Good alternative to the kinvara

I Run: Competitively, To set a personal best, For fun
I Use This Product For: Running
I bought the Grid Shadow Genesis because I had begun to transition to a forefoot/midfoot strike. I wanted a shoe with less heel, but still enough rubber on the bottom to hold up with my training (something the kinvara seemed to lack) These shoes are great and have plenty of rubber to hold up. I currently have about 400 miles and the rubber still looks pretty good. The cushion and flexibility in the shoes is also good, but it does take time to get completely use to it. They do not have as much cushion as a typical 12mm heel drop trainer, but still plenty for daily training. The only downfall is that the upper has begun to rip from the bottom along the seams, right above the arch. I was hoping to get more out of these shoes because the rubber is holding up well, unfortunately these rips will probably end their lifespan. Please make a second version of this shoe Saucony!

Shadow Genesis - Great lightweight everyday trainer

PostedJuly 16, 2012
I Run: As a social activity, For fun, To set a personal best, To stay in shape
I Use This Product For: Running, Racing
I have recently changed my running style from heel crasher to forefoot striker and these shoes have been great for that transition. The GRID system in the heel provides plenty of cushion for heel crashers and when you finally find your forefoot, the ride is just as smooth. They have a nice stable platform without all the added weight of plastic stabilizer bars and gimmicks, so you don't feel like you're going to roll an ankle in them. I'm amazed at how durable the outsole is... 400 miles and they are holding up great. My feet get really hot when I run and the mesh on these is a lifesaver. Don't let the mid-level price fool you, these are great shoes. For reference, I have a narrow heel, normal arch and moderately wide, but shallow toe-box and these fit great. I also wear a size 12 and they don't balloon in width like some brands do at size 12. Tall, slender athletes with big feet will like these.

I have always had a lot of difficulty finding a shoe with a wider toe box and also light weight. My knees usually scream at me after a 3mile run these days, so when I tried a pair of genesis, they fit and felt really great, but I worried about the kind of stiffness in the sole. I figured, what the heck, considering the price I"ll try them for a while, and it was a good move. I love these sneakers, and I've purchased three pair just in case the next generation doesn't work.
