Good Transition Shoe

PostedMarch 10, 2012
I Run: Competitively, For fun
I Use This Product For: Running
I am a competitive High School athlete who runs 30-40 miles a week interspersed with workouts. I used to run in Brooks GTS series which I loved for years, but the new model was somehow different and not to my liking. So I got these shoes with transitioning to a more minimal shoe in mind and so far I have had no issues at all going from a high support shoe to the Mirage. This shoe performs very nice in a wide range from 15 mile runs to fast paced interval workouts. Overall, if you're thinking of trying more minimal shoes, and you aren't ready for something like the Kinvara, then this is the perfect shoe for you.
And as a plus it is also very stylish as well.

Great Saucony Shoes

PostedApril 18, 2013
I Run: Not at all
I Use This Product For: Casual Wear, Walking
I use these shoes for casual wear. As with all the Saucony shoes I own, I find the size to be absolutely perfect and uniform from pair to pair. The colors and designs are very attractive. The shoes are uniformly comfortable. I wear size 15; praise to Saucony for making so many shoes available in that size--and so true-to-size that I never have to worry ordering by mail (can't find 15's in the stores in styles I want--if at all). I buy Saucony products from dealers as well as from Saucony directly.

This shoe is light and has just a bit of control

I have been a Kinvara user for a couple of years. I wanted to try a shoe with a little bit of an arch, but didn't want to increase the heal to toe drop. The Mirage seemed like a perfect choice. These shoes are every bit as light, they fit very snuggly, and perform very well. I did notice a bit more stiffness in the shoes than what I am used to, but the extra cusioning really makes up for it. This would be a great transition shoe if you wanted to drop to a minimalist shoe, or as a trainer that you could through into the mix . They look great, and feel great!

Great Gateway to Minimalism

PostedAugust 18, 2012
I Run: Competitively, To train for another sport
I Use This Product For: Running, Cross Training
This shoe is great for people who want to segway into minimalism, but want some support for the long runs. This shoe has more tread than the Kinavara, so it can be used in about any workout. I've ran on streets, dirt roads, tempo runs, fartleks, track, and long runs. This is close to the perfect training tool. My only complaint is that Saucony would make a better fit for the upper so that it would fit to the foot better.

Kinvara +

PostedJune 21, 2012
I Run: To stay in shape
I Use This Product For: Running
After trying the Kinvara (a little too minimalist) and loving the support of the earlier version of the Triumph, I decided to give the Mirage 2 a try. With twenty five miles logged so far, I can say that I am pleasantly satisfied. The shoe offers the light weight of the Kinvara and has just enough support to help out those of us who have minor pronation issues. For some reason the new version of the Triumph didn't work out for me and led to calf soreness. The Mirage seems to work out just fine though. After receiving a ten dollar off coupon through Saucony, these shoes were a no-brainer. As long as I can get 300 miles out of em', the Mirage will continue to fill my closet.

I love the feel of the shoe, but unfortunatley I had to stop wearing it because it caused a blister on the knuckle of my smallest toe. I belief this was due to the narrow fit of the shoe, and the material on the inside where the saucony logo was rubbed my foot wrong. I would love to try and wear the Mirage 3 when they come out, but I had to stop wearing this shoe. i am not sure if wearing a half size up would help. I usually wear a size 10, but it was recommended that I buy a size 9.5 in this shoe.

Solid shoe

PostedApril 27, 2012
I Run: Competitively, To train for another sport, To stay in shape
I Use This Product For: Running, Cross Training
I train for Triathlon and Crossfit. The shoe requires little to no getting used to which was a huge plus. It acts as a great in between shoe from higher heels, 8-12 mm, trying to get to 0mm. The longest I have ran in them is 10+ miles and they hold up very well, foot does not cramp or go numb or blister. In terms of Crossfit and weightlifting, the shoe grants ankle flexibility in the squat, deep enough for a deadlift and steady enough for snatches. One of my only complaints is the shoe lacks a personalized feel. It is obvious it is a stock shoe whereas if you buy a racing shoe, it often feels like it was molded to your feet. The Mirage 2 is a superior overall shoe, enjoy!

Better than the Original Mirage's

PostedApril 2, 2012

I loved my original Mirage's, wore through two pair. The two's are better. Same good ride, perfect balance of cushion and responsiveness. The two's have a little more room in the toe box and come in some cool colors. My only complaint is the tung slips down after a couple miles.

I love the bold new color, but most importantly is the performance with the lighter weight, the design to help with a better stride--and guess what, no blisters. The Mirage series is my only long distance shoe that use. That is 18 plus miles and a must for my marathons. Herman

Love the lightweight stability.

First time Saucony owner (coming from 2 years of Brooks Adrenaline GTS series) - had my stride analyzed by an awesome new running store and a "lightweight stability" was the diagnosis, which was nice, because lightweight (but not "minimal") was what I had in mind.
In addition to lightweight, I was also looking for a tad bit more forefoot support which this shoe has. Just enough stiffness under the balls of my feet to be noticeably more comfortable. I also like the top of the shoe/lacing. I know it sounds weird, but it took a long time for me to get a comfortable lacing configuration with my old shoes.
Finally, I really enjoyed the "lightweightedness" at about mile 7 of my 10 miler. My legs weren't quite as fatiqued as before. The true test will be how much they fade. With the Brooks, right at 300-325 miles, they would just die...not much fade to them.

Great Shoe

First pair of saucony shoes recommended by roadrunner sports associate after running on their "shoe dog" shoe fitter. Prior to purchasing the shoes I had some high ankle pain during runs probably from a high ankle sprain that occurred about 8 months ago. Since I started running with these shoes that pain has become minimal. Neutral arch, slight overpronator

Excellent shoe for me

I bought the Mirage II to rotate with another pair of minimalist shoes that has a little less guidance than this one. This pair is just as good as the other shoes that I use, just different.
I have not tried the original Mirage but the Mirage II fits great on my feet. I don't have narrow feet for sure - the toe box was plenty wide for me. I can wear this shoe slightly loose or snug and it still fits and feels great.
These feel really great to run in, are comfortable, and light enough for my training.

Shouldn't have changed the fit

PostedFebruary 29, 2012

The original Mirage was one of my favorite shoes. The change to the Mirage 2 includes changes to the toe box and overlays that now rub on the inside of my foot. Luckily the Fastwich 5 has right fit and the 4 mm drop I was looking for. It has a firmer ride than the Mirage but at least it fits.
I wish with model upgrades designers would stop changing the fit of the shoe.
