Excellent Purchase for Trail Runs

I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend these shoes for any trail runner looking for a hybrid of a minimalist and moderate support/durability shoe. I made the switch from Nike trail runnners and these are significantly lighter, but offer similar protection from the rougher terrain. The fit is true to size - slightly narrow if anything (compared to the Brooks Cascadia - which was too wide for my foot - and heavier).

Great step up

I own a couple of pairs of Peregrine (1), which are a little tight in the shoe box, but the Peregrine 2 fit great! Solid tread for the trails, snug, comfortable fit and great styling. Quickly becoming one of my favorite go to pair of shoes.

addendum to an earlier review titled "great shoe for limited mileage"

After running in a similar shoe (the Brooks PureGrit), I want to highly recommend the Peregrine for its superior fit and performance. The Peregrine is an outstanding trail shoe, with the caveat that minimalist-inspired shoes tend to wear more quickly than your standard road shoe.
The good:
1. Comfortable straight out-of-the-box
2. Snug fit ensures sensitivity on the trail.
3. Tread provides solid protection on technical terrain
in DRY conditions.
The bad:
1. These shoes break down faster than any running shoe
I've owned previously. While only running my current
Peregrine 2s for 1.5 months, they have nearly
separated at the point at which the upper meets the
sole. The material seems to be weak overall, leading
to premature wear and tear.
Saucony's customer service reps have been very supportive regarding these issues, and have offered a replacement pair.

Great trail shoe!

The Peregrine 2 is a pure joy to run in. I am not into bare foot/minimalist running but I love this shoe. And it works perfectly for me although I only sometimes use low drop shoes (The Mirage 2, also excellent). Great grip, great at draining out water. I highly recommend it.

Great feel and performance but could be more durable

The first time I tried these shoes I fell in love with them, specially because of the great traction I got on steep uphills. I ran my usual training runs (15k+) and they held true to their nature: light and great grip. After 2 months of training in them I participated in the Canadian Death Race, during which the shoes performed and delivered. But it was right after this race that I noticed that the top liner (where the toes bend) was completely ripped. Also the liner is ripped just above the sole.
The type or running that I do involves lots of uphill and rough trails sometimes involving 600 - 1200 meters in vertical gain. The rubber is still in great shape and still has good traction.
In conclusion, This a great shoe but wish it would be more durable. It leads me to believe that quality is only temporary.

Great light trail shoe

PostedSeptember 2, 2012
I Run: Competitively

I have about 250 miles on my first pair of these and they are wonderful for technical trail running. Good traction for the weight and just as one of the other reviews said that although the uppers aren't particularly durable the soles are - really nice for the rocks and roots. The toebox is typical roomy Saucony but the footbed is the width of the shoe, not flared out, again nice for technical terrain. They are lightweight and don't hold a lot of weight in water. I like the 4mm drop, but I think that's a matter of personal preference. Planning to get at least one more pair for when these finally wear out.

Great feel, poor durability

Like Cascadia 6s without the weight and durability. Would buy them again even though they don't last as long as most trail shoes I have tried. Love the feel.

Solid Trail Shoe!

I bought these for a Spartan Sprint I ran in Indiana earlier this year. These shoes met the challenge well, even though there was a high clay soil.
The weight is similar to my old guide 4's, which is fine and the drainage of the shoe was decent (this was a mud run). While others in regular shoes were slipping all over, I had mostly decent grip, with a few exceptions throughout the race.
I felt in control while running with these shoes and the foot protection was solid. There were many rocks, ruts, etc, all over the trail and I didn't notice at all during the race.
In other trail situations, these shoes work extremely well. No worries running in just about any conditions, with the exception of asphalt or concrete, which will quickly wear down the nubs and the shoe.
Keep these for trails or mud races and you'll be extremely happy.
The only complaint is that after spraying down the shoes, the Saucony symbol on the side started coming off, but since these are trail shoes, I didn't mind a little paint coming off. They cleaned up nicely and for the setting, worked very well.
I'd recommend these to anyone interested in trail running.

best i've worn

The Peregrine will protect the bottom of your foot on technical trails as a trail shoe should, but the upper material is very light and not meant to protect against rocks, roots, water, mud, whatever. However if you want a light, extremely responsive, comfortable, "mid-foot striker" type shoe, don't buy anything else. Best running shoe I've ever bought, 20 yrs of running.

ran 15 miles first day out with no problems very comfortable. Felt very stable on fast technical down hills.
