Completely fell apart after 100-125 miles

Bought these for my daughter's track training, as fitted and recommended by running store. After 8 weeks (2 1/2 she was off for a flu-like illness), the shoes are completely destroyed. On one foot the mesh is ripped completely open from pinky toe to the Saucony swoosh. On the other, there is a hole about the size of a nickel. These are very expensive shoes and should certainly last longer than this! They were only worn for interval training, a few long runs, and plyometrics; never outside of track training. Super disappointed.

I love this shoe. It feels great and provides great support. I've tried other shoes from Saucony but always come back to Cortana. I just wish they made more colors. I've had to buy my second pair of yellow and grey!

I have worn the Triumphs for years. I just had foot surgery and was testing these shoes out when beginning to run again. The are super light and made the run seem easier. They are about 1/2 a size too small for me, but it could be just me.

These shoes feel super to run in or training. They're very breathable, chill and I just ran a personal best for my half marathoning.in my Cortanas! I normally wear a size 7.5, but these in an "8" are ideal, and I have high arches. I would buy again and again!

Nice neutral shoe

I run 30-40 miles a week and wear inserts so need a neutral shoe. They are not as cushiony as other Saucony styles that I have worn but they are good. The laces are annoying as they are a bit too long and often drag on the street if I do not play around with them.

i have bought this shoe 3 times. First time was in Feb then in may and then again aug. ALL IN THE SAME YEAR. i mean really? how on earth do you charge over a hundred dollars for a shoe that lasts 3 months or less. The sole dosent wear out but the inside of the shoe breaks down within 2 1/2 months.. I only run 15 miles a week and now i am looking for a shoe with this comfort but that will last a bit longer. I mean we all work hard for our money and dont want to feel cheated. if anyone knows of a brand with the same comfort and fit can you please write a review abt it???

Great shoe, but hot feet.

PostedAugust 23, 2012

These are great shoes. I switched to a more cushioned shoe due to an injury in my hip and lower back area. The Cortanas have helped manage the stress in those areas and allowed me to start running more frequently and at higher mileages. The major down-side to the shoe is drainage. For most people this may not be an issue, but I live in Florida and often run is high temperatures and humidity. The upper is breathable, but on long runs as the moisture collects in the bottom of the shoe and I develop blisters. Additionally, I can feel my feet getting extremely hot. I've never had this problem in the past. If Saucony would address the drainage issue, the Cortanas would (hands down) be my favorite distance training shoe.

This shoe was NOT a good fit for me.
Was only able to wear them 2 times to give my best effort of "breaking in," but couldn't wear them again. Blisters all over including on toes, on ankles and heels - extremely uncomfortable.

Nearly perfect, but fatal flaws

PostedJuly 26, 2012
I Run: Competitively, To set a personal best
I Use This Product For: Racing, Running
Beautiful shoe - light, responsive, and the unique combination of a 4mm offset with the extra cushioning I need for 10+ mile runs. The problem is the hard plastic on the narrow toebox, which really rubbed the outside of my big toes the wrong way. I tried a larger size, but had the same issue. Despite the blisters, I ran 100 miles in them hoping to break them in. The mesh upper started to show serious wear after 50 miles, and a small hole appeared at 100 miles. I really hope that Saucony improves the durability of this shoe, and widens the toebox/gets rid of the hard plastic toe with the next version. I can wear the Kinvaras, Peregrines, and Triumphs without issue, but the Cortanas would be my favorite long run road shoe if these flaws were resolved.

Comfortable Shoe - TERRIBLE Durability

I got these shoes about 3 months ago, and the insides of the shoe are wearing terribly, and the mesh top is so thin my toes have worn through both shoes! These are expensive shoes to be replacing so often, but I look like a bum with holes in my toes...I'm torn, love the shoes, but they don't last! :S

I feel your pain!
Posted August 14, 2012
Yup, that is EXACTLY my problem with them. I posted a review on here about 3-4 months back complaining of the same thing. If I could give these shoes more than 5 stars in regards to comfort and performance, I certainly would. But for durability...DEFINITELY NOT. I face the same dilemma....I love them, but I don't want to pay $145 for shoes that I'll need to replace in 3 months...that's exactly how long I went with them before I had to replace them. A lot of people have suggested trying the Kinvara, but I am a little worried about those because the Cortanas have a slight bit of stability for people who are trying to ease into the more minimal style of shoes...whereas, I'm not sure the Kinvaras have that. But the Kinvaras would probably be the closest thing to the Cortanas

Still adjusting

PostedMay 30, 2012

I have only worn Saucony for about the past three years and I buy about two pair a year. I've usually bought the Saucony Guide. This time I went with the Cortana because of the look and colors. And because it's still Saucony. However my first few runs (5 mile runs) were a bit difficult. I feel like my shins are a little sore (no pain). So is this transition just using different muscles and it will take some getting used to?? Should I go back to the Saucony Guide? Help?

This is also my experience, only it has been painful for me. I never thought of spending this much for a pair of shoes, but since I'm older (56) I really want to be careful and wear shoes that will help protect me from injury. I have never had any pain from running (I average about 20 miles a week) and I've been hurting since I ran my first 5 miles in this shoe. I really don't know what to do because purchasing them was a big decision and I can't go out an buy another shoe. Hoping that it's as you said and a transition to using different muscles.

Comfortable, but wearing quickly

I have read the reviews for the Cortana and I have to agree with most people. As far as performance and comfort are concerned, this shoe is awesome. It has very good support and is very lightweight, which is a really big deal for me. My feet are usually temperamental and I experience some kind of irritation with any shoe I own...EXCEPT for these. I've never had so much as a blister or even anything resembling a blister on my feet from these. However, there is one problem I have with these that no one else seems to be complaining about. I have only had the shoes for about 3 1/2 months and my toes are busting holes through the thinner mesh in the tops. The right shoe is on the verge of developing a hole that my toe would have the potential to partially fit through. My toes must ram up against the insides of them harder than most peoples'. I am afraid that I will soon have to get another pair of shoes because I cannot run in shoes that my toes are busting through. If anyone else looking at this review has had this problem, post a review of your own or comment on mine because I have yet to see another person complain about this issue. Until then, I guess I'm just weird, haha. So all in all, the Cortana is a great shoe performance and comfort-wise, but not durable enough, at least for me. That's the only reason I could not give it 5 stars.

You are not alone
Posted June 20, 2012
I too experienced the same problem with the orange saucony genesis. I began wearing saucony's last year (have always worn nikes) and discovered that they really are a great and comfortable shoe. However, just like you, after about 2 or 3 months a hole began to wear into my toe area. I loved the shoe so much that I bought another pair and again, a hole appeared after about the same amount of time. I didn't feel like I got as much use out of them because unlike other shoes, when I am done running in them I still wear them. However, these shoes began to show wear and tear very soon after purchasing them. So you are right in saying that they were not very durable.

GREAT RUNNING SHOE!

Love this shoe! Got the grey and yellow--really pretty! But, most importantly, I got them for COMFORT and FIT--and they deliver!! I have e x t r e m e l y sensitive feet and am on them constantly, and these are great--good comfort, good support. Also extremely important--they don't have that huge lump under my arch that so many running shoes have. They have good arch support--just the right amount. Perfect. Running shoes always seem to run a bit short, however. I don't like to 'order up' because then the whole shoe is bigger and bothers my ankles. Wish they were a tad longer.

Great shoe

This light weight very comfortable shoes. I run every day and own this shoes since January. The shoes are very light, good traction, BUT I totally agree in terms of wearing out sooner than other Saucony. Seems like materials are less durable. It takes 3 months for total wear. :-(
